The Grenada Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme was launched in August 2013 to boost foreign investment into the country.
The Grenada CBI Programme attracts investors from all over the world who wish to increase their family’s global mobility and have the security of a second citizenship.
Investors can receive a Grenadian passport from as little as $150,000 and access a wide array of benefits. Passport holders are enjoy visa-free access to over 140 countries, including the Schengen Area, Hong Kong, the UK and more.
Routes to Citizenship
There are two options to obtain a citizenship by investment in Grenada; Investment option and Real estate investment.
Investment option
Make a non-refundable contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF).
The NTF was established when the CBI programme launched in 2013. The aim of the NTF is to assist in boosting the economy of the country. Both the contribution and government fees are payable only once citizenship is approved.
The minimum contribution to the NTF is $150,000 for a single applicant and $200,000 for a family of up to four (main applicant and three family members). Further costs apply when adding additional dependents on a per-person basis.
Real estate investment
Invest in a government-approved real estate project whereby the investor can either make a joint investment with a minimum value of $220,000 or purchase a freehold property with a minimum value of $350,000.
The joint investment option is the most common. It includes real estate developments such as hotels, villas, tourist properties and resorts. This is usually the investment of choice due to the lower investment amount and the strong tourism industry in Grenada.
Investors also have the opportunity to re-sell their investment through the scheme after a mandatory holding period, which is between 3 to 7 years depending on the project, without affecting their citizenship status.
